We work together with the Graduate School in attention to school vulnerability
  • We will implement joint actions to prevent school bullying, sexual abuse, suicide, as well as alcohol and drugs consumption
  • We sign a collaboration agreement

The Citizen Council for Safety and Justice in Mexico City and the Graduate School will work jointly to give attention to conducts that put the students’ community at risk.

This was declared by Salvador Guerrero Chipres, president of the Citizen Council and Remigio Jarillo Gonzalez, general director of the Graduate School, after signing a collaboration agreement through which the Citizen Council offers students, teachers and parents a series of courses, workshops and tools that will allow them to have a better development.

While signing the agreement, the Graduate School’s general Director acknowledge that the vulnerabilities that worry the institution the most include suicide prevention, the participation of women in fights, alcohol consumption, sexual harassment and violence within the family.

He detailed that during the previous year they detected 34 suicide attempts in students, not in schools, but in areas near their homes, 14 from women and 20 from men.

“In order to face these problems we seek the support of specialists, in this case, the Citizen Council, so that they help us control the situation and offer attention to young people while also contributing to educating good citizens,” he expressed.

Regarding this, Guerrero Chipres stated that he the Trustworthy Chat and the Safety Line 55 5533-5533 will be available for all the community to access immediate attention 24 hours a day.

Apart from preventing crimes, they will promote the No more Extortions app in schools, which helps prevent extortion and fraud, and they’ll offer training to prevent crime, as well as drugs and other substance consumption.

They’ll also give lectures on the prevention of school harassment, cyber bullying and sextortion.

“Forming citizens has to be strengthened through a better education and through tools that contribute to their personal development, so the agreement is an opportunity to contribute to this effort,” he said.

Last year, the Citizen Council trained 77 teachers on the prevention of psychosocial risks. There were 78 teachers who took some of the workshops on suicide prevention. Also, there was a successful intervention in two suicide cases.

They offered lectures on prevention o human trafficking, suicide and responsible consumption of alcohol to 46 thousand 810 students and they offered psychological and legal aid to two families through the Safety Line.
