Criminal incidents diminishes in 27 states, according to the SayYes report

The downward trend is the result of an institutional strategy and coordingation between authorities and citizens, according to Salvador Guerrero Chiprés, our President Council.

High impact crimes register a decrease in 27 entities around the country, according to the SayYes report of the Citizen Council for Safety and Justice in Mexico City.

The report, based on statistics from the Executive Secretary of the National System for Public Safety, the General Attorney’s Office and the reports received at the organism’s Safety Line, shows that the general decrease in the country was of 26%.

Yucatán leads the states, with -85% of denounces. Tabasco follows it with -54%, Chiapas with -50%, Mexico City with -46% and Hidalgo and Jalisco with -44% each.

“The constant downward trend in high impact crimes, in most states, reflects the institutional safety strategy, and now, once most of the activities were reactivated we can identify that this behavior is not directly or exclusively related with the pandemic,” Salvador Guerrero Chiprés, president of the Citizen Council, stated.

Among the six most populated entities in the country, the State of Mexico registers 566 crimes for every 100 thousand inhabitants, Jalisco 396, Mexico City 364, Puebla 284, Guanajuato 231 and Veracruz 222.

The organism presents each month the Denounce, Intelligence, Safery, Innovation (DISÍ / SayYes) report and it provides legal attention and free psychological aid 24/7 anyhwere in the country and abroad through the Safety Line and Trustworthy Chat 55 5533 5533.
