THE PUSH UPS CHAMPION POLICE OFFICER FROM THE ZOCALO BECOMES A SPORTS AMBASSADOR

The Traffic Agent of the Citizen Security Ministry, Pablo Eduardo Ramirez Lemus speaks in favor of civic culture and crime prevention promoted at the Citizen Council.

In order to promote civic culture as well as respect for the work made by traffic agents in the country’s capital city, Pablo Eduardo Ramírez Lemus, push ups champion at the Zocalo, joined the team of Social and Sports Ambassadors for Safety and Justice promoted by the Citizen Council for Safety and Justice in Mexico City.

From the Traffic Control Under Secretary in Mexico City led by Jorge Alfredo Alcocer Rosales, Ramírez Lemus, agent of the Citizen Safety Ministry has been able to work on career and with citizens after having had an accident in which he lost one leg.

“Among my life’s main goals there is promoting a civic culture and crime prevention. I want to fight against corruption, wherever it is found, and promote sports as a way of life,” said the Bachelor in Criminalistics at the Amberes 54 seat where he met President Salvador Guerrero Chipres.

The Citizen Council is a bridge that connects citizens and authorities while raising awareness and promoting respect for the important labor made by police officers of the Citizen Safety Ministry and the elements of the capital city’s General Justice District Attorney’s Office.

“One of the main axis of public safety policies is that which promotes helping causes such as that of the Sports Ambassadors, which seeks to invite young people to participate in healthy activities that help build a community,” Guerrero Chipres explained.

Apart from being part of the twenty athletes and Olympic medal winners that are part of the Social and Sports Ambassadors for safety and Justice, Ramírez Lemus decided to announce citizens that he will try to classify in order to participate in the Olympic Games that will be held in Tokyo, Japan.

The Citizen Council, which participates in the Honor and Justice Commission by the Citizen Safety Ministry in order to choose each “Month’s Police Officer” will help purchase a new prosthesis in order to substitute one he already needs to renew.

For four years, Ramírez Cuevas has been a high performance athlete and he has won four medals for Mexico in his star sport, rowing.

On July 3rd his story went viral when he won the challenge against a body builder who demanding authorities to reopen gyms in Mexico City. The challenge consisted on performing over 50 push-ups.

“A culture of prevention is very important within the police force, but also among citizens,” the officer pointed out.

The alliance was sealed with a push-ups challenge between the president of the Citizen Council and the officer, in which both demonstrated their commitment with health and sports. And yes, the winner was agent Ramírez Lemus.
