THE CITIZEN COUNCIL AND KWAI TRY TO PREVENT CRIMES THROUGH SOCIAL NETWORKS

This alliance will enable warning people about content that may affect the community and the app will promote the use of the civil organism’s safety lines.

Prevention through social networks and the Internet is fundamental now that they’re used with more frequency, so the Citizen Council for Safety and Justice in Mexico City and Kwai, the short video social network established an alliance in which the platform will promote the causes of the civil organism, including crime prevention and the fight against human trafficking.

Kwai, which recently arrived in Mexico, promotes a space where users can express themselves with equity so it will also promote a civic culture, emotional wellbeing and inclusion, respect and recognizing diversity, all of them fundamental topics for the citizen organism.

“Working with platforms that are mainly used by children and teenagers is fundamental for the prevention of criminal conducts that focus on this age group, including pornography and human trafficking,” Salvador Guerrero Chipres, President of the Citizen Council mentioned.

The alliance seeks to prevent the promotion of content that may affect the community and, above all, find red flags on time in relation with material that may be meant for underage kids to find.

The network will promote among its users the National Line for Safe Diversity (800 000 5428) from the Council, which promotes inclusion, acknowledging diversity and protecting the rights of the LGBTTTI+ community.

The binational program Together against Trafficking through the National Line and Chat Against Trafficking (800 55 33 000) will help report and denounce situations that may represent this crime.

“We are committed with offering our users the best help possible, especially in vulnerable times when this becomes even more relevant, particularly during the pandemic,” Arjun Narayan, global leader of trust and safety for Kwai commented.

The social network will also promote the use of other support services the Citizen Council has such as the Safety Line and the Trustworthy Chat (55 5533 5533), available 24/7 365 days, in order to offer legal and psychological aid to victims of any type of crime.

The alliance also includes the promotion of free psychological aid services through Kwai and the services of Emotional Recovery Center at the seats of Cuauhtemoc and Iztapalapa where they offer first aid psychological services to people who need them.
