The Citizen Council for Security and Justice of Mexico City reported that, during 2019, kidnapping in the city decreased 37 percentage points in relation to 2018.
Salvador Guerrero Chiprés, president of the Citizen Council, explained that according to the DI SI annual report (Denunciation, Intelligence, Security and Information), in 2018 278 research folders were opened, while in 2019 they were 175.
He explained that, since the beginning of 2018, November and December 2019 were the months with the lowest figures of this crime with four and nine open folders, respectively.
At the national level, Mexico City was among the 16 entities that achieved a drop in this crime.
"The figures are a sign that coordinated work between authorities and citizens can generate better security conditions," Guerrero Chiprés reported
In addition, he highlighted the work they have done, the Attorney General of Mexico City and the Secretariat of Citizen Security to arrest gangs or people considered as priority objectives in the issue of kidnapping as the case of Carlos Iván "N".
The DISI analyzes data from the Executive Secretariat of the National Public Security System (SESNSP), the Attorney General of Mexico City, the Digital Agency for Public Innovation and the Citizen Council.
