After the organism denounced the robbery, elements of the Secretariat for Citizen Security detained a person.
Elements of the Secretariat for Citizen Security recovered the statue of the girl that is part of the sculpture “Molino para la Paz”, which was stolen last Friday at the “Yes to disarmament, yes to peace” square, located in the crossroads of Reforma and Manuel González, and they detained a person.
After the Citizen Council for Safety and Justice in Mexico City denounced the event on Friday at 18:55, reason why they opened the investigation file CI-FICUH/UAT-CUH-3/UI-1 S/D/00019/10-2021, the C5 made the corresponding follow up by monitoring the video surveillance system and they located the sculpture that was stolen on the same day at 3:27.
“The Citizen Council is grateful for immediate response offered by the General Attorney’s Office, the Secretariat for Citizen Security and the C5, to our denunciation which was presented as that of any regular citizen. Recovering the statue is good news that strengthens our trust in the responsive capacity of our justice institutions”, said Salvador Guerrero Chiprés, president of the Council.
“Molino para la Paz” is a work that was created with the transformation of ferrous material that came from over 4 thousand weapons that were surrendered through the program “Yes to Disarmament, Yes to Peace” in the ear 2020.
“A culture of peace and security comes from the participation and strengthening of that the Council calls the virtuous triangle: citizenship, organisms and authorities in a coordinated work against crime,” Guerrero Chiprés added.
The organism informed that this same week the statue that is part of the monument created by sculptor Miguel Ángel Campos Ortiz will be reinstalled.
