WE STRENGTHEN THE ALLIANCE WITH REDAM IN FAVOR OF OLDER ADULTS
We signed a collaboration agreement with the Alliance of Organizations for Older Adults to empower older adults in the defense of their rights.
The Citizen Council for Security and Justice and the Alliance of Organizations for Older Adults A.C. they signed a collaboration agreement whose main objective is to empower older adults in the defense of their rights.
According to data from the Citizen Council, between 2019 and so far in 2020, 968 reports of people over 60 have been attended, 58 percent report some type of abuse.
On the issue of legal accompaniments, the Council lawyers have supported 172 people to initiate investigation folders for various crimes, the most common being extortion with 30 percent of the total accompaniment.
However, other crimes that affect older adults are: fraud and dispossession.
"We need older adults to know and recognize their rights, through this alliance we will create a support network with organizations so that people over 60 years of age empower themselves and defend their rights," said Salvador Guerrero Cyprus, president of the Citizen Council .
On behalf of the more than 40 organizations and groups that make up the Alliance of Organizations for Older Adults, Patricia Rebolledo Rebolledo thanked the interest of the Citizen Council to work with older adults, one of the most vulnerable groups.
The collaboration agreement also includes promoting the culture of reporting and crime prevention.
Develop courses and workshops on decent aging and financial education, among others.
