Within the framework of the Day of Love and Friendship, the Citizen Council for Security and Justice of Mexico City launched a campaign, through its social networks, that seeks to motivate couples to have healthy relationships.

Under the slogan "That is love," the Citizen Council highlights positive values in relationships, regardless of sexual orientation or identity.

Loving yourself as you are, avoiding dependence or economic violence, respecting your space, treating you respectfully and spending quality time with the family are some of the messages promoted by the Citizen Council.

“This February 14 is a good date to highlight the positive love, not only with the couple but with the family. It is a good opportunity to strengthen the basic values of a healthy relationship based on equality, respect and independence, ”said Salvador Guerrero Cyprus, president of the Citizen Council for Security and Justice of Mexico City.

He recalled that the Citizen Council provides face-to-face, telephone and online support to deal with cases in which the relationship is not secure.

Both men and women can access the Security Line and the Chat of Confidence 55 5533 5533, as well as the Psychological Office to ask for support in case they suffer some type of violence.

"The couple must be an engine that drives, promotes mutual support, respect and protection, not that limits or mistreats," Guerrero Chiprés added.

Between 2019 and so far this year, the Citizen Council has attended 210 reports related to violence in the couple; 93 percent was made by women and seven percent by men.

In addition, the Psychological Office of the Citizen Council is currently working with at least five women who decided to change their lives and had the courage to denounce the situation of violence they lived.
