“El Chato” has a chance to have a better life after being rescued by the Citizen Council

Between 2019 and May 2021 the Safety Line and Trustworthy Chat 55 5533 5533 received 17 thousand 464 reports about animal abuse.

“El Chato,” a white boxer, has a second chance after living in a reduced space on a rooftop without any shade and suffering from hunger.

This pet shows severe malnutrition, injuries and other ailments caused by the state of abandonment in which it was found.

Neighborhoods of Iztapalapa reported the situation to the Citizen Council for Safety and Justice in Mexico City through the Safety Line and Trustworthy Chat 55 5533 5533 that offers free service 24/7, 365 days a year.

Between 2019 and 2021 the organism has received 17 thousand 464 reports for animal mistreatment.

Denouncers handed in photographic evidence and videos so that the organism, which operates the program CompAnimal, could denounce the situation at the Environmental and Territorial Order Prosecutor Office (PAOT) in Mexico City.

Simultaneously, they asked for the Animal Vigilance Brigade to intervene and rescue the dog, whose owner handed in willingly.

A volunteer will safeguard it and give it medical attention while it finds a permanent home.

The Citizen Council is monitoring “El Chato’s” recovery and they’ll change his name, thus leaving a history of mistreatment behind.

Last February, authorities also took part in rescuing “Milagro”, a boxer that was suffering from mistreatment and extreme malnutrition.

The Citizen Council promotes protection and respect for pets. Recently it adopted a 4-month old Chihuahua that they called “Estrella”
