50 PERCENT OF TRAFFICKING FILES OPENED BY THE CITIZEN COUNCIL ARE MADE IN RELATION WITH SEXUAL EXPLOITATION

Women or girls make up 94% of the victims. We call out citizens to denounce through the National Line against Human Trafficking 800 5533 00.

The Citizen Council for Safety and Justice in Mexico City that operates the National Line against Human Trafficking informed that, out of the reports they receive, 63% correspond to another person’s prostitution or other forms of sexual exploitation and 94% of the victims are girls or women.

Every year, on September 23^rd, all around the world we celebrate the World Day against Exploitation and Trafficking of Women, Girls and Boys.

Salvador Guerrero Chipres, President of the Citizen Council, pointed out that “within the crime of trafficking with people there is a black rate of over 90%, considering that they only report one out of every 100 cases, so it is important to call the National Line against Human Trafficking on 800 5533 000 in order to help authorities prevent and persecute this crime.”

Thanks to the report the Citizen Council receives at the National Line Against Human Trafficking, he added, they know that the pandemic has changed the ways in which they find their victims this year, and the main one is by offering deceiving work opportunities that are not only presented in person but also through social networks.

The information they give at the Line has also allowed to locate places where they carry out activities of sexual exploitation such as Tlaxcala, which is still first in number of victims and seducing them is still the main way of capturing them, followed by job offers and promises of helping them.

The main places where sexual exploitation takes place are: houses, hotels, bars, restaurants and porn websites.

Specialized counselors work at the National Line 24/7 and at the Trustworthy Chat (Whatsapp) 55 5533 5533, where they prevent, attend and fight against this modern form of slavery by establishing coordination mechanisms between the Federal Government, local governments and organizations created by civilians who specialize in these topics.

Also, the Council offers legal and psychological aid to victims in order to open an investigation file and all our services are free.
